Andrea Riseborough and Brenda Blethyn are extraordinary in this social-realist thriller dripping with dread.

Following a fall, widowed pensioner Elsie is housebound, visited by a stream of indifferent carers. Finding an unexpected ally in her younger neighbour, Elsie gains a companion, and the inscrutable Colleen discovers a fresh purpose in life shopping and cleaning for her. However, when Elsie’s son turns up and starts to question Colleen’s motives, simmering tensions lead to horrifying consequences.

Director Paul Andrew Williams, fresh from his gripping television dramatizations of the lives of Cary Grant and Jean Charles de Menezes, turns the camera to the neglected margins of society and forces us to examine our own sense of trust and suspicion.
