Fun at Halkyn Cricket Club
Halkyn Cricket Club opens its beautiful ground to fun and frolics on the sunny August bank holiday in 1975 and the drought-stricken one in 1976.
From the collection of:
Overview
Unaccustomed as they are to playing cricket, the women give it a go, every August bank holiday, for fun, as do the welly-boot throwers, the pram racers, the donkey and Chopper bike riders and the barrel rollers. In 1975 the pitch and surrounds are green and pleasant but the following year drought has struck and Halkyn is parched although the view from the cricket ground, whatever the weather, must make it one of the most attractive locations for the sport in Britain.
