Cronenberg directs Vincent Cassel as a widower channelling his grief into a new technology that lets people observe the decaying bodies of the dead.

Karsh (Cassel) is a tech entrepreneur whose grief drives him to create a technology – GraveTech – that allows mourners to see the decaying dead bodies of their loved ones. But when his cemetery, including his wife Becca’s grave, is vandalised, he finds himself caught up in a strange international conspiracy that hacks away at his pain, grief and paranoia.

Following Crimes of the Future in 2022, this is Cronenberg’s second feature since his wife Carolyn died in 2017. And with his silver mane of hair and Canadian accent, Karsh could be seen as an avatar for the filmmaker, with both men dealing with the biggest loss of their lives through creating something that extends a hand to the world of the dead. Also starring Diane Kruger and Guy Pearce.
