The Stendhal Syndrome

18 rating

Argento’s dizzying and gut-wrenching drama about a young policewoman (Asia Argento) on the hunt for a serial killer who becomes obsessed with her.

Dario Argento cast his daughter as the lead in his unflinching horror about a policewoman who suffers from Stendhal Syndrome, a condition that causes people to hallucinate or faint when they’re exposed to great works of art, making her vulnerable to the cravings of a serial killer in Florence.

With a haunting score by Ennio Morricone, Asia Argento gives one of her best performances in what may be her father’s most disturbing film.
