Overview

Fritz Lang’s second silent Sci-Fi classic after Metropolis is a space exploration epic, mixing together story of scientists searching for gold on the moon with a love triangle sub-plot and a helping of typically Langian espionage and intrigue.

Cited as the film that introduced the concepts of rocket travel to cinema audiences, including the first instances of a ‘countdown to zero’ and the use of a multi-stage rocket, Frau im Mond is another exemplar of Lang’s mastery of scale and special effects, and a pulpy, comic-book classic of early science fiction.
