Overview
Eva Green, Ryan Phillippe and Sam Riley star in an intricate, ambitious sci-fi drama that follows four parallel realities, each based around characters searching for salvation. In an otherworldly metropolis, a masked vigilante stalks his nemesis. While in contemporary London, a student plans an outrageous act of performance art, a jilted lover starts over again and a religious man searches for his missing son.
Debut director Gerald McMorrow worked with legendary producer Jeremy Thomas to adapt this visually arresting adaptation of his 2002 dystopian short Thespian X. With its mixture of restrained genre elements and intense drama, McMorrow’s distinctive and unclassifiable work was underappreciated by audiences upon its release, marketed as a straightforward science fiction or unfairly bracketed with the millennial fad for multi-narrative ‘hyperlink cinema’. It’s now ripe for reappraisal as a highly original example of contemporary British cinema.
