The Innocent
Louis Garrel’s unique French comedy-heist-romantic-thriller comes loaded with charm and humour.
Director: Louis Garrel
Overview
Louis Garrel (The Dreamers, Little Women) writes, directs and stars in this hilarious part-family-farce, part-heist-thriller, part-romance. He is Abel, a museum educator and widower, who is at his wits’ end when his mother Sylvie rushes into a marriage with Michel, a convict she met while teaching drama at the local prison. He decides to stalk his new stepfather, bringing along his friend Clémence (Portrait of a Lady on Fire’s Noémie Merlant) for the ride. Garrel’s genre-melting film is fun, fizzing with cracking chemistry and full of heart.
