Men Are Not Gods
A theatre critic's secretary is caught up in a love triangle involving the stars of a production of Othello.
Comedy 1936 83 mins
Director: Walter Reisch
A theatre critic's secretary is caught up in a love triangle involving the stars of a production of Othello after she is persuaded to alter a review to make it more favourable.
Gertrude Lawrence, Sebastian Shaw, Miriam Hopkins and Rex Harrison star in this romantic melodrama which derives its title from Othello Act III Scene 4. Although the story of the film doesn’t reflect the play too much, Shakespeare enthusiasts will be intrigued to see its generous excerpts from what was presumably a typical 1930s stage production.
