Cowley Fathers' Mission in India
Life in Maharashtra, as seen through missionary eyes.
Overview
This amateur film captures everyday scenes in western India, as seen through missionary eyes, as well as ones closely connected to the religious work of the “Cowley Fathers”. They were the Society of St John the Evangelist, a ‘High Church’ Anglican male religious order with missions in Bombay (Mumbai) and Poona (Pune). Therefore presumably these scenes take place in what is now the Indian state of Maharashtra.
