Overview
Dogs, large and small, smooth and shaggy, fill the cavernous interior of London's Olympia in this colourful record of the Crufts Show. Hairy hounds, working dogs, miniatures, and the most glamorous of all the furry participants - the Afghan hounds - take their turn in the spotlight. Proud owners groom and fuss over their canine companions before they take to the ring to strut their stuff.
Filmmaker Bill Hall recorded dog shows around the country from the 1950s to 1980s. An experienced breeder of Afghan hounds - kennel name Barbille - he was also the author of a book on the breed, and, for many years, a columnist for a weekly UK dog newspaper.
