Zoë Thompson from sweet-thang zine breaks down their new BFI Player collection of films exploring themes of Blackness, autonomy and the self.

Founded in 2017, sweet-thang zine is a community and print zine publishing work by Black creatives worldwide, centering the experience of women and queer folks. Here, Zoe talks through the nine films they chose for their Black Autonomy, Black Realities BFI Player collection.

To accompany the collection, sweet‑thang also produced a special zine featuring reviews and reflections from writers across the Black Diaspora.
