Psychological drama in which a talented young tennis player comes under pressure to talk when her coach is investigated for abusing his position.
Julie is the star player at an elite tennis academy, life revolving around her unwavering commitment to the game. When a coach is suspended following misconduct allegations, all the club’s players are urged to speak up, with eyes turning to protégé Julie in particular. But rather than cooperate, Julie quietly processes the drama, and her complex relationship with the coach, on her own terms.
Co-produced by the Dardenne brothers, Leonardo Van Dijl’s impressive first feature is a gripping psychological drama and a timely critique of systems that prioritise success over safety. Centred around an excellent central performance from first time actor Tessa Van den Broeck, Van Dijl’s film refreshingly places a trust in the audience to draw their own conclusions without having things telegraphed for them.
