This Gaumont newsreel boasts a rare glimpse of the RMS Titanic in dock prior to her ill-fated maiden voyage.
Overview
Cinemas were flooded with Titanic related newsreels in the aftermath of the disaster, but these often relied heavily - and misleadingly - on footage of her sister ship Olympic, whose maiden voyage was completed safely in June 1911. Several versions of Gaumont's newsreel survive; this one boasts a brief glimpse of the actual Titanic in dock at Belfast - look out for her in the two opening shots.
