Snow Bathing

There's no business like snow business for a Hertfordshire health resort, though this swim-suited snowball fight may be taking things too far.

Non-Fiction 1927 1 mins Silent

Overview

These hardy 1920s hunks and frolicking flappers would seemingly do anything in the pursuit of wellbeing - including romping half-naked in the snow - though the presence of the camera may have helped to loosen the layers. The newsreel item was filmed at Champneys near Tring, which was founded as a health resort in 1925 by 'naturopath' Stanley Lief, and is still a popular spa today.
