Meander in Maidstone
A remarkable record of Maidstone during 1964, including summer shopping in open-air markets, winter snows and flooding in the town – and ending with scenes of night-time neon.
From the collection of:

Overview
This film of Maidstone starts with scenes of the River Medway followed by a summer market with shoppers and traders. We see modern developments like new roads and tall buildings contrasting sharply with older parts of the town. Winter snows return followed by scenes of disruption when the Medway breaks its banks and floods the town. After more views of Maidstone, we are treated to a display of Christmas lights and a variety of neon signs for various shops and products.
