Knitwear Workers Protest March

This 'Buy British' clothing campaign is more than patriotism, it's the last line of defence for an industry facing extinction.

"If you're wearing foreign knickers, get 'em off!" is the chant as protestors make their way through Nottingham for a mass rally in Old Market Square. Cheap imports and the relentless pursuit of lower prices has driven the once great East Midlands textile industry on to the rocks. An industry that once clothed the majority of the nation is facing an uncertain future as globalisation takes hold.
