Holyhead. Dock Gate Adrift
How did that get there? An Admiralty gate all at sea
Overview
The slightly surreal spectacle of a dock gate adrift in open waters is the subject of this simple, one-shot Pathe newsreel - released in what was presumably a bit of a slow news week. The storm that disrupted the gate's journey to Portsmouth has clearly moved on. A circling sailing boat gives some sense of the gate's huge proportions - as do the tiny workmen perched on top, apparently wondering what to do next.
