Along the lanes and across the fields of rural Herefordshire the hunt pursues its quarry.
A divisive subject for many years but during the winter of 1953-4 in North Herefordshire hunting foxes with dogs was part of the way of life. From a gathering of the hounds in Leominster on Boxing Day to cross-country dashes past remote communities such as Berrington, Little Hereford and Much Cowarne, they were all shot by keen huntsman Frank Dale. Intentional spoiler alert (and a warning to the squeamish): probably best to avoid the gory last couple of minutes.
