Cheese Making at Home
Handy hints for would-be fromagers
Overview
This thorough instructional film from towards the end of WWI teaches cinema audiences how to make their own delicious cheese. It offers plenty of handy tips, assuring viewers that even in the wartime economy surplus milk can be bought cheaply.
Foodstuffs were scarce during WWI - voluntary rationing had been introduced in February 1917 to try to make supplies go further, and in 1918 the government made rationing compulsory.
