Overview

A conservative Ohio judge is appointed as America’s new ‘drugs czar’, unaware that his teenage daughter is addicted to heroin. In Mexico, two police officers intercept a drug shipment, only to be captured by a corrupt general who plans to steal it for himself. Meanwhile, in San Diego, a jailed kingpin’s pregnant wife steps in to take over the family business.

Adapted from the acclaimed Channel 4 series Traffik, Steven Soderbergh’s multi-stranded docu-drama offers a gripping examination of America’s war on drugs. Thrillingly entertaining, yet intelligent and provocative, the film cross-cuts between storylines with a distinctive visual palette assigned to each, thanks to Soderbergh’s work as his own cinematographer.
