Overview
Marking its 100th anniversary, Eisenstein’s legendary drama of rebellion and revolution returns with acclaimed new music from Pet Shop Boys. During the Russian Revolution of 1905, the crew of the battleship Potemkin leads a mutiny against their tyrannical officers. Eisenstein’s landmark blend of art and politics brims with technical brilliance, and a pioneering approach to editing and montage.
One of the great silent epics is enhanced even more with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe’s music. Performed with the Dresdner Sinfoniker and orchestrated by Torsten Rasch, the soundtrack blends electronic beats with orchestral grandeur, offering a stirring contemporary twist on the classic masterpiece which had an indelible impact on film history.
