Thirst

A drug addict suspected of murder and an ancient gay vampire form an unlikely friendship in a bitingly cold Icelandic town.

Released by the police on suspicion of killing her own brother, drug addict Hulda witnesses an old man being assaulted by a group of thugs. Hjörtur, however, is a 1,000 year-old vampire who doesn’t need her help defending himself. He and Hulda soon team up as they find themselves being chased by the detective investigating her brother’s murder and a rabid religious cult.

Directed by Steinþór Hróar Steinþórsson and Gaukur Úlfarsson and set to a soundtrack of jazz and 80s synth, this Icelandic horror is a rollicking, blood-splattered vampiric ride.
