Overview
Three friends find themselves all set for the summer of a lifetime when they stumble across £100,000 in cash, and they prepare to host the party to end all parties. But of course there’s a catch in the form of the gangsters who lost the loot...
Shot on the streets of Hackney, The Weekend is as authentic an urban comedy as you’ll find, imbued with verve and non-stop hilarity from debut director Sheridan De Myers, who honed his craft directing over 100 commercials. Hailed as a cross between The Inbetweeners and House Party, The Weekend is indebted to the charm and comic dexterity of its three stars, Joivan Wade, Percelle Ascott and Dee Kaate, whose repartee is carried over from their wildly successful webseries, Mandem on the Wall. It’s also peppered with unexpected turns from leftfield talents like YouTube prankster Ashley Inkz and comedian Kojo (who also penned the story). As well as being an uplifting viewing experience the story of the film’s production and release is just as inspirational, powered by the dedication of De Myers and his crew, who took to crowd-funding to finance its distribution.
