The Rover
Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson star in a post-apocalyptic thriller set in the Australian outback, from the director of Animal Kingdom.
Director: David Michôd
Overview
In a post-apocalyptic Australia ravaged by economic collapse, a hardened loner (Guy Pearce) pursues the gang that stole his treasured car, forming an uneasy alliance along the way with the brother of one of the thieves (Robert Pattinson).
From the director of the superb crime thriller Animal Kingdom, David Michôd, The Rover is a tense and unrelenting ride that echoes, and expands upon, the brutal atmosphere of outback classics like Mad Max and The Proposition. After premiering at Cannes Film Festival the film has won the patronage of fans such as Quentin Tarantino, who said it established Michôd as “the most uncompromising director of his generation.”
