Payroll
Billie Whitelaw stars in this tough Tyneside-set crime drama about a gang of criminals who turn against each other following a payroll heist.
Director: Sidney Hayers
Overview
A decade before Get Carter immortalised the Tyneside-set crime film, Sidney Hayers’ Payroll got the ball rolling. This tough and efficient heist drama, set in Newcastle and Norfolk, stars Michael Craig as member of a gang that commits a partially successful raid on a payroll van, only to turn on each other as the heat mounts. Billie Whitelaw plays the widow of a murdered accomplice.
