Mr. Drake's Duck
The Drakes' dream of making an old Sussex farm successful comes to a halt after one of their ducks lays a radioactive egg
Director: Val Guest
Overview
What's harder to believe: Douglas Fairbanks Jr as a would-be farmer in the middle of rural Sussex, or a radioactive duck laying pure uranium eggs? Add a blonde Hollywood starlet (Yolande Donlan, who would later marry the film's director Val Guest), the British Army, and all the world's nuclear power-crazed nations - and a modest BBC radio play is turned into a jolly, surreal film comedy. And if that's not science-fiction enough for you, look out for Jon Pertwee, later to become the third Doctor Who.
