Generation Wealth
Acclaimed filmmaker Lauren Greenfield examines modern greed amid the world of the 1%. Travelling through America and beyond, she meets the international elite and families overwhelmed by debt, yet determined to live the ‘luxury lifestyle.
Director: Lauren Greenfield
Overview
After exploring eating disorders, teen culture and profiling the couple that built the largest house in America (The Queen of Versailles), acclaimed photographer and documentary filmmaker Lauren Greenfield turns her lens to greed. Starting in Los Angeles and travelling through America and beyond, Greenfield talks to the international elite, and also to families overwhelmed by debt yet determined to live the ‘luxury lifestyle.’
Greenfield has been working on this project since 2008, creating a multi-platform exploration of greed and consumer culture in the form of a photography book, a museum exhibition and this film; part photographic journey, part personal memoir and part political essay. *This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy*
