If 2001’s Star Gate sequence was a bit more laid back and accompanied by lift music, it might look a little something like this…
Animation & Artists Moving Image 1966 8 mins
Director: Nancy Hanna
Like a more meditative meander through 2001’s Star Gate, this abstract animated film takes you to other dimensions. Nancy Hanna spent her four decades in British animation working on sponsored film and commercials, with this her only independent work. After spells at the Larkins Studio and Pearl & Dean, she joined Biographic Cartoon Films in 1957 where she remained until retirement in 1983. The smeared oil paints and whorled textures in this film hint at her phenomenal and unique talents as an artist and designer.
