Racing on the Sea Wall
Amateur record of Lowestoft in the 1920s; the town centre, port and harbour, including motorcycle and car racing along the sea wall.

Overview
Mr Bird of Pakenham in Suffolk recorded scenes in Lowestoft, including at the port and harbour, on the water, and through the town centre. A car journey from Oulton Broad to Lowestoft captures travelling through the town centre where the exterior of a cinema advertises the 1921 silent film “A Perfect Crime”. The final scenes show crowds gathered to watch motorcycle and car racing along the sea wall. A great record from the 1920s.
Lowestoft's new Sea Wall was used for motorcycle and car racing in 1926-1928. Over a mile long, it offered a kilometre course and attracted huge crowds.
