Roger's Cup Winning Match
For local cricket players from a local cricket club playing in a local league, just playing is what matters; but winning is also nice.

Overview
As Gary Sobers is giving the MCC the runaround in his twilight years, non-professional, but keen, Yorkshire cricketers give their all in the local league – at a slightly gentler pace. The players of Cawthorne Cricket Club, of the Huddersfield Central League, here celebrate winning an unknown cup in 1973, probably either the Allsop Cup or the League.
Allan Broadhead started filming local events in the in the 1960s, and is still doing so, with very many recent films online. Cawthorne Cricket Club, formed as long ago as 1843, had a great team in the early 1970s, winning the double of the Allsop Cup and the League title in 1971, '75 and '77. They are still playing at the same ground, Cannon Hall Park, which was saved from disappearing in the early 1950s by the local the Miners Welfare. It has recently undergone regeneration thanks largely to the efforts of Cawthorne singer-songwriter Kate Rusby (a distant relative of Allan Broadhead) – whose family have a close association with the Club – through the Underneath the Stars Festival.
