In 1972 the club was one of the participants in the inaugural National Village Competition, beating Astwood Bank in the final at Lord’s. They went on to win the competition again the following year and for a third time. In the 1970s Malcolm Dunstan and in 1989 Tony Penberthy from the club went on to first class cricket careers.
