At Mountstewart
A grand day out at Mount Stewart, where crowds of children jostle for the camera and form a very orderly queue.
Overview
Excited faces fill the frame in this lovely tinted film of Mount Stewart, the seat of the Marquesses of Londonderry. It's unclear what event the children are attending in the grounds of the stately home, but they're certainly thrilled to see the camera in a way that is reminiscent of earlier films by Mitchell and Kenyon. At this time the house belonged to the 7th Marquis of Londonderry and his wife Edith, a celebrated society hostess whose horticultural planning and design created one of the most admired gardens in the world.
