A lively market, cobblestone streets and medieval remains distinguish Norfolk’s capital city, in this, one of four films captured by amateur filmmaker Brian Cheesman in 1958.
Norwich's iconic landmarks and the city’s medieval walls and tower remains along the outskirts, once defences for the city, and evidence of Norwich’s rich history. There is too plenty of people activity on those quaint cobblestone streets of Elm Hill, of Tombland, and also at the city centre’s thriving covered market; staple destinations for Norwich shoppers. Amateur filmmaker Brian Cheesman captures a good representative mix of the historic and the contemporary.
Cine enthusiast Mr Cheesman lived on Sewell Road in Norwich. He never married, or had any children, neither did he have any siblings. He lived with his mother and father until their deaths (father 1959, mother c.1993) and was employed by Norwich Union throughout his entire working life. He was a member of a church on Constitution Hill, Norwich.
