Pastymakers Ginsters of Callington
Ginsters Paradise - Mr. Ginster attempts to open new factory in Callington
In partnership with:

Overview
Reporter Stephen Matthews talks to Mr. Ginster about planning permission for his new advanced factory in Callington, Cornwall. In 1967 the Ginster farming family converted an egg barn into a bakery and the original Ginsters Cornish Pasty was born. Ginsters are the biggest selling pasty-maker in the UK also known worldwide. The company, part of Samworth Brothers, employs eight hundred staff and turns a profit of up to £200 million pounds.
Real honest food, Cornish through and through. This could be why labelled as the Original Cornish Pasty, the pasty was granted protected geographical Indication status from the EU in 2011 although Devon have found a mention of a 10d pasty which exists in an historic city record in Plymouth dating back to 1508/9 and a recipe dating from 1746.
