The first Trotskyite daily newspaper in the world celebrates its 12th birthday.
The workers are revolting! The Peoples March for Jobs from Liverpool to London in May 1981 forms the backdrop to this film made to celebrate 12 years of Trotskyist newspaper The News Line, published by the Workers Revolutionary Party. The film also features influential interviews with well-known readers from politician Ken Livingtone to footballer Jim McDonagh.
The WRP had high hopes for the paper, aiming for it "to be the mass daily of the working class". While this target may not have been reached, The News Line is still published as an online daily newspaper.
