Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
Ben Whishaw first lead role in a movie was as the serial killer obsessed with smell in Tom Tykwer’s adaptation of the celebrated novel.
Director: Tom Tykwer
Overview
Patrick Süskind’s acclaimed novel, about a man with an acute sense of smell who kills women in 18th century France to create the perfect perfume, was deemed unfilmable until Tom Tykwer took on the challenge.
Ben Whishaw is excellent in a very difficult role as the murderer, and the film boasts great performances from Alan Rickman and Dustin Hoffman. The orgy scene has to be seen to be believed.
