Overview

Crown Prince Vajiravudh of Siam (now Thailand) was educated in Britain, first at Sandhurst from 1892 and then at Christ Church College, Oxford. He may still have been at Oxford when this film was taken. The Prince was on a visit to Port Sunlight with the radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi, and they would have taken this route across the Mersey to the nearby New Ferry on the Wirral Peninsular.

On the same trip the Prince and Marconi also visited the SS Lucania to inspect the ship's new wireless telegraphy equipment. The Prince later served briefly with the British Army before returning to Siam in 1903. He was crowned King of Siam in 1910.
