At Last the 1948 Show (Series 1 episode 2)
This incomplete episode features only the show’s opening and first sketch, plus a brief fragment of the lengthy ‘Judge Not’ sketch, with the remainder presented as audio-only or script.
Director: Ian Fordyce
Overview
The most incomplete episode in this collection features only the show’s opening and first sketch, recovered from the Swedish TV compilations, plus a brief fragment of the lengthy ‘Judge Not’ sketch, which was on the Australian promo reels and gives a reasonable impression of the ambience. Otherwise, the show is presented here using the Ray Frensham audio tape and the Rediffusion Archive script. ‘Judge Not’ was originally part of the Cambridge Circus revue; Sydney Lotterby was the name of a real-life BBC comedy producer.
