Overview

After opening shots of his home at Leominster, film-maker Frank Dale captures a day trip to watch the cricket at the New Road ground in Worcester. The visitors on May Day in 1957 are a touring West Indies side, there for the start of a three day match. We get to see good views of the preliminaries as Worcester's captain Peter Richardson and John Goddard for the West Indies toss the coin and prepare in the nets. But team photos have to be taken before the action starts.

Despite bowling out West Indies legend Garfield Sobers for a duck in their first innings Worcester eventually lost the match comprehensively by an innings and 77 runs.
