Overview
This polished and detailed short film commemorates Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s opening of the University of Bradford’s first building in 1965. Wilson enjoys a tour around the new building as the film’s commentator provides us with interesting information to complement the visuals. The film builds up to Wilson’s articulate speech at the end which draws much praise from the audience.
Harold Wilson was a prominent figure in British politics for over three decades, including two separate spells as Prime Minister (1964-1970 and 1974-1976). Wilson was chosen as the first Chancellor of the University of Bradford in 1965 and held the position until 1985.
