Overview

Performance artist Bruce Lacey’s singular take on the home movie documents the minutiae of family life, from bath-time to toast-making. With great intimacy, Lacey details his home life with wife Jill and their children showing the simple everyday anarchy and wonder behind his confrontational performances, eccentric inventions and otherworldly sculptures.

The third in Lacey’s series of ‘Human Behaviour’ films, aiming to chronicle human lifestyles for the benefit of potential Martian visitors, The Lacey Rituals not only lays bare the rituals of domestic life, but those of filmmaking too, as the vagaries of chance and mood are given free reign to influence the film’s structure.
