The Child, Dog and Pram

This Victorian girl is engrossed in her games, and no wonder, with a dog, two cats and a doll to play with

Overview

This shamelessly cute film from over a century ago offers the timeless joys of cats and dogs and small children. In a backyard, a girl plays with her toys and pets, mostly oblivious that the camera is recording her games for posterity. The young taunts her dog with her doll, then begins playing 'mother' and decides to let one of the cats join her 'baby' in the pram. While this actuality was likely produced for public exhibition, it offers the intimacy and nostalgia of a home movie.
