Overview
The flags are out in Holyhead to welcome the royal family – the Queen and Prince Philip with their children Prince Charles and Princess Anne – who have arrived on the yacht ‘Britannia’. A plaque on the McKenzie Pier commemorates this day – 9/8/1958 - when the party "came ashore", following the announcement on 26/7/1958 that Charles, aged 10, was now Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester. He would be officially invested as such on 1/7/1969, aged 21.
