The correct way to play tennis, as illustrated by HW 'Bunny' Austin

Instructional film/TV programme 1936 12 mins

Overview

Want to play tennis the 1930s way? Then learn from one of the best, Henry Wilfred ‘Bunny’ Austin, the last Briton to reach the men’s singles final at Wimbledon, in 1932 and 1938, before Andy Murray in 2012. In this instructional film from Gaumont British, he takes to the court at Wimbledon with training partner IH Wheatcroft to illustrate the correct way to hit a tennis ball. We also get a few seconds from the Davis Cup match against the USA in which Austin beat Frank Shields.
