At Wessex Film and Sound Archive you can see and hear history, from late Victorian times to the present day, through moving images and sound recordings. The Archive contains over 36,000 film and sound recordings relating to Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, including film and tapes of local TV and radio.

Overview
This celebration of Southampton's past, as well as its modernity, begins with the bustle of the docks, with many famous ships in view. We next see the city's many medieval and later period buildings and how the modern city has emerged from the Blitz. Focusing on housing, shops and factories, there are wonderful shots of happy shoppers. Locations like the New Forest, Beaulieu House, Portsmouth and Winchester are seen before returning to see the city's colourful carnival.
