Southampton is seen at its best in this colourful promotional film which also features scenes from Portsmouth, Winchester and the New Forest.

This celebration of Southampton's past, as well as its modernity, begins with the bustle of the docks, with many famous ships in view. We next see the city's many medieval and later period buildings and how the modern city has emerged from the Blitz. Focusing on housing, shops and factories, there are wonderful shots of happy shoppers. Locations like the New Forest, Beaulieu House, Portsmouth and Winchester are seen before returning to see the city's colourful carnival.
