Folkestone Spacious and Gracious
There's something for everyone in Folkestone as this promotional film claims - including lidos, fine dining, cliff railways and the weirdest fitness machines ever seen
From the collection of:
Overview
After listing the many ways to get to Folkestone we join holidaymakers on the town’s beaches and anglers on the pier. Following visits to local places of interest, we're back at the Lido, and later a funfair and the races. We’re entertained at a seaside show as well as by marching Scottish bagpipes. At the health centre we see women work out while men sit nattering in the sauna. An arts display and various sports follow before we ride the cliff railway and relax among the flowers.
This delightful and nostalgic film features a pre-Channel Tunnel Folkestone as it was in 1969. Though many of the attractions and visitor sites featured in this film still exist, the Lido and Boating Lake along with the town's Rotunda have sadly been demolished to make way for new development.
