Overview
A JCB is used to dig a trench to help water escape from the streets around Roath Park as heavy rain has caused major flooding in the area. Makeshift boats are used to cross streets that are underwater and wellingtons are, of necessity, the chosen footwear for almost everyone. In some places only the tops of cars can be seen as they emerge from the murky brown water.
This film is from a collection of films shot by Chris Jenkins (1901-1990), proprietor of a hair salon in Cardiff and a keen amateur artist, astronomer and film-maker. He was a stalwart of Cardiff Cine Society for 45 years, becoming its president.
