First round of the 'Cup'

Heavy fog hampers the first round football matches of the 1925 FA Cup.

Non-Fiction 1925 2 mins

Overview

January 1925: the FA Cup first round kicks off in heavy fog. Topical Budget's newsreel cameras stick to the goal line but some long shots give an indication of the dim view from the stands. Liverpool beat Leeds (in stripes). Aston Villa came from behind, twice, to beat Port Vale 7-2. In London, Spurs managed to see through the gloom to beat Northampton but Arsenal's match at West Ham is called off (the fixture went to two replays before Arsenal won).
