Time has taken an interesting toll on this contrasting portrait of Oxbridge by pro-am filmmaker Mathew Nathan

Amateur film 1953 10 mins

Overview

Whether you went to Oxbridge or are graduate from the school of hard knocks (or both), there's much to intrigue in this contrasting portrait of the university cities. Filmmaker Matthew Nathan was in the midst of a 50-year career as a prolific pro-am cineaste, making over 60 films between 1932 and 1986. Time has taken an interesting toll on this particular film, with an attack of mould on the emulsion leaving electric green streaks to accentuate an otherwise sadly dulled image.
