Bradford Town Hall Square
The earliest surviving footage of bustling Victorian Bradford.
Overview
Little is known about this film or who made it - but it's believed to be the earliest surviving footage of Bradford, shot in 1896. The filmmaker picked the perfect vantage point from which to capture the frenetic movement of people and traffic across the square. Look out for the marching band, probably on its way to the nearby St George's Hall, which still hosts Yorkshire brass band competitions today.
